Video Verification Masterclass: Get Your Business Approved in 5 Minutes

Google is moving away from postcards and toward Video Verification. Learn the exact script and shots you need to get instant approval.

The New Standard: Video Verification

In 2025 and 2026, Google has fundamentally changed how they verify local businesses. The "Postcard" is becoming a relic of the past. Today, the most common—and most reliable—way to get verified is through Video Verification.

This can happen in two ways: 1. A Live Call: You talk to a Google agent via your smartphone. 2. A Recorded Upload: You record a continuous video and upload it to the dashboard.

For most business owners, this is terrifying. "What do I show? What if I say the wrong thing? What if my office is messy?"

Don't worry. This isn't a film school project; it’s a technical audit. In this masterclass, we’re going to give you the exact script and the "Shot List" you need to pass your video verification on the first try.

The "Continuous Shot" Rule

This is the #1 rule of video verification. Your video must be one single, unedited shot. If the camera cuts, or if the screen flickers, Google will reject it. They need to be 100% sure that the street you showed at the beginning is the same street your office is on.

The "Master Shot List" (The 4 Scenes)

Scene 1: The Neighborhood Context (30 seconds)

Start outside. Show the nearest street sign and the front of your building.
  • *The Goal:* Prove you are at the address you claimed.
  • *Pro Tip:* If there is a recognizable landmark nearby, include it in the background.
  • Scene 2: The Physical Proof (30 seconds)

Walk up to your door. Show your business name and hours on the door or the lobby directory.
  • *The Goal:* Prove you have a "Permanent Presence."
  • *Warning:* If you have a "Tape-on" sign or a piece of paper taped to the door, Google will likely reject you as a "Virtual Office."
  • Scene 3: The Access Proof (30 seconds)

Use your key to unlock the door and walk inside.
  • *The Goal:* Prove you have management control of the space.
  • Scene 4: The Operational Proof (60 seconds)

Walk through the office. Show your team, your computers, your tools, and your business documents sitting on a desk.
  • *The Goal:* Prove you are a "Live" business.
  • The "Killer Shot": End the video by showing a utility bill (electric or water) that matches the address and name on your profile.

  • The 3 "Fail" Triggers to Avoid

    1. The "Residential" Look: If you are an SAB working from home, do not show your bedroom or your kitchen. Show your workspace, your tools, and your branded vehicle in the driveway. 2. The "Virtual Office" Tell: If the space looks too "generic" (no personal items, no branded materials), Google will flag it as a coworking space. 3. Low Quality: If the video is blurry or the lighting is too dark to read your business license, you will be rejected.

What to Say During a Live Call

If you get a live agent, be professional and concise.

  • "My name is [Name], I am the owner of [Business Name]. I am here at my office at [Address] to verify my Google Business Profile."
  • Follow their instructions exactly. If they say "Show me your business license," don't argue—just show them.

Why You Only Get One Real Shot

If you fail a video verification, Google often flags your business as "Potentially Fraudulent." This makes every future attempt much harder.

At Visibility Shifters, we offer a Verification Prep Service. We do a "Dry Run" with you on Zoom, checking your signage, your lighting, and your documentation to ensure that when you hit "Record" for Google, you have 100% confidence.

Don't leave your business's birth to chance. Master the video.
